Entry 126 for Carbon black (CI 77266) now lists additional CAS and EC numbers and adds a detailed purity specification covering ash, sulphur, PAH, benzo(a)pyrene, dibenz(a,h)anthracene, arsenic, lead and mercury limits, replacing the earlier simple reference to Commission Directive 95/45/EC purity criteria.
A new entry 126a is added for Carbon black (nano), specifying the same substance identifiers, a black colour, a 10% maximum concentration, a restriction against uses that could expose the end user's lungs by inhalation, and conditions limiting allowed nanomaterials to those meeting the stated purity profile and a minimum primary particle size of 20 nm.
All other entries in the list of allowed colorants remain textually the same as in the earlier version.
