applies from: unchanged
The Chairperson's duties in preparing and chairing Board of Supervisors and Management Board meetings are expanded to include setting and adopting agendas, convening meetings, tabling items for decision, and considering the setting up of a coordination group.
The appointment procedure changes from selection and appointment solely by the Board of Supervisors, subject to a possible European Parliament objection, to a process where the Board of Supervisors draws up a shortlist with Commission assistance and the Council adopts the appointment decision after European Parliament confirmation, and removal grounds and procedure are similarly changed to involve the Council acting on a Commission proposal approved by the European Parliament, or, in the later removal clause, the European Parliament deciding following a Council decision taken after consulting the Board of Supervisors.
The alternate elected by the Board of Supervisors to act in the Chairperson's absence is now termed a Vice-Chairperson, and the evaluation process before the end of the term now specifies that the Vice-Chairperson carries out the Chairperson's tasks during that evaluation, with the extension of term now proposed by the Board of Supervisors and assisted by the Commission before Council action, rather than confirmed by the European Parliament.
